Sword of the Stars 2 Closed Beta and Pre-Order Now Available

Sword of the Stars 2Today Kerberos Productions and Paradox Interactive announced details on how to sign up for the limited closed beta. They announce that only a few spots will be available.

You can sign up for the Sword of the Stars II closed beta at this Kerberos’ forum thread. Applicants can request beta access until midday October 12th, 2011. If you are selected for a place in the closed beta, you will receive a confirmation by the 13th of October.

Sots2 pre-orders are now available at GamersGate. GamersGate stated that if you pre-order Sots2 on GamersGate you will get the Liir/Morrigi Race Pack for free. They also offer you a 75% discount on Sword of the Stars Complete Collection, the original SotS game with all expansions.

    I have high hopes for this. Never played the first one and don’t intend to. But from what I’ve read this could be the defining 4X time of current times. I heavily disagree with the art direction – mostly in regards to the ships – but the openness of the game and engine makes up for that. The devs are going to release many of their own tools to the community: A Starmap Editor, An Effect Editor, A Module Editor, A Scenario Editor, A Ship Editor Tech Tree Editor.
    And don’t even get me started on future expansions + features :)

    They target a release on october 28th, by the way.

      Let’s see what comes up. Yes, they are targeting the Oct, 28th for the digital release. It was marked still as 28th TBC but today I noticed that they removed the TBC from Paradox’s website so it seems it’s gonna happen that day.
