I have played All Civ games and enjoyed them immensely (some more, some less so).
I must say that I do not like the change to hexagons at all.
Why limit people to only 6 possible movements now, after having 8 in all the rest.
Now one can't walk straight in all directions.
That's going to get annoying real fast.
It did in SEV after 8 in SEIV.
Their constant graphics enhancements are nice,
as long they remember to keep it playable on most (gamer) computers out there.
No troops in the same tile..hmm..No real opinion on that.
I will have to wait and see.
Just hope they wont try to imitate a TW style of game, I don't like them at all.
There are a lot of changes that might break the game to me.
I suppose it all depends on how they implement it.
Seeing as how it is going to be more modable,
I could probably find something that I can enjoy,
though that's not a sure thing.
I'm not looking forward to this game as much as I hoped I would at all.
Pity.

I played all Civ games also.
Civ 3 had some flaws but I think they nailed it completely on Civ 4. It is definitely one of my favorite games (as you can easily see from my post).
Regarding the no troops in the same tile issue. This is surely a radical change in the combat system. As it seams now you can only construct a unit p/ resource you control. For example, access to an Iron deposit allows you to build only one Swordsman unit. You can build another if you get another source of Iron. The approach is so different that its hard to know if it will be successful or not.
Higher modability is also very interesting. I read somewhere that one of the main designers of Civ 5 is a past Civ 4 modder (that says a lot about this matter).
I do have also my doubts and concerns, so you're not alone in your reserve Vendor.
I'll give it the benefit of the doubt. Sid will not allow them to blow the franchise for sure.
