I recently came across this site...and wish I'd found it earlier...
I wanted to introduce a game I'm working on, called Star Hammer Tactics. It's a fast-paced, tactical battle game that is designed to be played in short bursts. Its already available on PSP, and I'm almost finished a rewrite for the iPad that has a lot of improvements.
In the game, you control a small fleet of ships, called a Naval Strike Group, in battles against an space-based life form called 'the Nautilids'.
It's great to see a sic-fi turn-based tactical game available for, if I'm not mistaken, PSP, PS3, (Xbox 360 also?) and now you're making your way into the iPad also I see.
It's refreshing to see some nice 2D / turn-based space combat mechanics (reminded me of the good old MoO2 battle system).
Tell me, are there any strategy elements in Star Hammer Tactics besides combat? Examples: Do you build units (ships/fleets) or only use the ones provided to you, do you gather resources, build structures, do technological development (tech trees), is there any diplomacy involved, are there any long-term goals or plans to pursue or is it all about quick combat skirmishes? Only scenarios, or is there a campaign with decisions to be made along the way?
Thanks for letting us know about Star Hammer Tactics here at the Space Sector forums.
Cheers

Yeah, Xbox 360 was the very first version. I don't talk about it much these days

Star Hammer Tactics is all about combat. There is a campaign, which is a series of scenarios connected by a storyline, and there is a configurable skirmish mode, which supports single- or two-player modes. Before going into a skirmish, you can configure your strike group.
There are leaderboards to make the skirmish more interesting too
I wanted to make a strategy game that was quick to get into, and could possibly even introduce players to the genre who might not be interested in the complexities found in many strategy games. It's designed for play in short bursts, which doesn't really lend itself to tech trees and the like.

Yeah, October was the plan, but it's taken a little longer to complete than I planned...you know, taking extra time to get things just right
It's very close to being ready for submission to Apple, so a November release date is almost certain.

Yea I know. Project deadlines are always tough. Always something left to do. It's in our nature to fail deadlines, at least with what we expect to achieve for anyhow.
I just wanted to let everyone know that the iPad version of Star Hammer Tactics is on the App Store now. You can download it (for free, with optional IAP) from here.
