Bertipa! Who are U?
Man,

I come to check out these forums, and blam much posts! cool!.

However they are the work of one man, are you a alter ego of Adam?

Or are you just an aspiring 4x Game Dev?

Please introduce yourself, and what your goals are, how much you have done?

I'm just squatting Adam's game design forum, he says that more the posts better it is and I am happily obliging him.

I'm not even really an aspiring 4X game dev, more a player who is dreaming about his perfect 4X game and that it is sharing his ideas more to find out if they are sensible or just weird.

I used to do that by myself and here I have a chance to find likeminded souls.

My professional background is in the IT sector and I have been an Oracle DBA for more than twenty years.

My hobbies background space from 4X games to SciFi to pen and paper RPG to comics and more.

4X TBS/RTS Grand Strategy Space games are a very narrow field that somehow sums up an astonishing percentage of my interests.

My dream is to get more feedback, creative feedback on my threads and to see new threads coming out here where I can be just one of the active participants.

I am keeping out of some strong explorable areas here like all the more technical aspects that are not my strong suit or like the Singularity meme that I feel is really too big to tackle it alone.

I hope that you like my posts, Adam's also are quite interesting now that he went around to link them here.
If you find them flawed please, add your voice to the choir, the more the merrier.

I did said to bertipa in the past that the more posts he could do the better (in reply to a PM where he questioned me if he was posting too much for my flavor), I never thought however that the result would be so many though 1, and never thought also that almost all threads in Game Design would be done only by himself.

I've watched bertipa grow and grow the Game Design forum threads over the months, to the point where he was almost the only voice there, and the result has been practically a one man show.

It's easy to understand that the topic is very dear to bertipa, however sometimes I think that the point of a forum is being missed. As it is now, the Game Design forum seems more like a collection of bertipa thoughts and ideas (and many are great and provocative), but that is not what was intended, I guess.

I hope others will join the discussions soon so that the Game Design forum discussions can be more vibrant, and not just a 2 man show.

I have been busy and not able to post as much as I'd like in this forum. Maybe it will change in the near future.

Yeah I am an aspiring neophyte designer, who has been digging into UNITY. I am looking into the feasibility of doing a 4X type game with that platform. Of course a undertaking this massive is kind of like looking up at Mt Everest from Base Camp 1, and knowing all the elements that need to be tackled like UI, Research, Diplomacy, Artwork, Sounds, Music, AI are all large parts that make a good 4x game.

However, it is a life long dream of mine to climb Mt Everest like it is to make a game. So I prefer the latter (it is much safer 24.

My best wishes for your endeavor!

BTW I checked out UNITY and it seems a nice development environment.
