Apparently, you <a  href=\"http:\/\/forums.2kgames.com\/showthread.php?250051-Cheapest-way-for-a-new-user-to-get-all-of-Civ-V-DLC\" target=\"_blank\">don&#8217;t need the first expansion<\/a> (Gods &amp; Kings) in order to play Brave New World, however you&#8217;ll not be able to play Gods &amp; Kings eight civiliations and some scenarios. You do need the Civ5 base game though.<\/p>\n<p>Examples where the expansion is available for digital purchase are: <a  href=\"https:\/\/www.spacesector.com\/blog\/civ5_brave_new_world_gg\" target=\"_blank\">GamersGate<\/a>,\u00a0<a  href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/gp\/product\/B00CYOHL48?ie=UTF8&#038;camp=1789&#038;creativeASIN=B00CYOHL48&#038;linkCode=xm2&#038;tag=spstgawhsne-20\" target=\"_blank\">Amazon<\/a>, <a  href=\"http:\/\/store.steampowered.com\/app\/235580\/\" target=\"_blank\">Steam<\/a>\u00a0and <a  href=\"https:\/\/www.spacesector.com\/blog\/civ5_brave_new_world_gmg\" target=\"_blank\">GreenManGaming<\/a>. You&#8217;ll get Steam keys from all of them. So, you&#8217;ll need Steam in order to play in any case. I&#8217;ll be all over this one from now on.
